An actor’s life can be extremely difficult with audition after audition resulting in rejection after rejection before finally landing a gig. But THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS alum Michael Muhney (ex-Adam) assured fans that acting remains his passion and he’s taking it all in stride. “It takes a helluva lot of ‘stickwithittude’ to receive rejection as often as I face it,” he mused on Twitter, “but I’ve nothing else to do with my time so I guess I’ll remain a glutton for punishment.”

However, when one fan suggested he could grab a role on ABC sudser GENERAL HOSPITAL, Muhney quickly admitted he had no intention of ever returning to daytime. “Truly no offense to anyone in production or anyone who is a viewer but I have no desire to do another soap,” he explained. “It was something I thought would be an interesting challenge and I’m glad I tried it but I started my career in primetime and my heart is both there and in streamers.

“I always promised myself I’d only ever play Adam on Y&R,” Muhney added. “No more. No less. That was the only character I was ever interested in portraying on daytime television.”

Muhney joined the cast of Y&R in 2009 as the newest Adam Newman, and played the role until 2014, earning a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in 2013. Before that, Muhney starred as Sheriff Don Lamb in three seasons of the primetime series VERONICA MARS from 2004-07 as well as in numerous other shows.

More recently, Muhney appeared in an episode of THE GOOD DOCTOR, starred in the award-winning short film Sidepiece, and played Martin Haywood in the Apple+ TV series TRUTH BE TOLD starring Octavia Spencer.

The actor also expressed his appreciation of the fans who want to see him on screen again, and assured him that he’s always on the lookout for the next exciting project. But he did assure them that he’s not struggling. “With every big role I’ve played I’ve saved my money,” Muhney revealed. “I may not be much of an artist but with the sparing talent I possess I’ve chosen to be someone picky about projects. I’d rather own three less houses and no yachts and have an artistically fulfilling career.”
