Fans of THE YOUNG & THE RESTLESS star Christian LeBlanc (Michael) can look forward to seeing the actor in a whole new way when he plays Big Daddy Pollitt in a new off-Broadway production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof to be staged at Theater at St. Clement’s in midtown Manhattan in January 2022!
“Bucket list stuff!” LeBlanc enthused on Instagram when he was finally able to announce the big news. “When I first moved to New York City as a baby actor, I used to nervously sing the song “New York, New York” from On the Town whenever I had to take the subway in order to remember that the Bronx was uptown and Battery Park was downtown.”
LeBlanc lived in New York City while he appeared as Kirk McColl on AS THE WORLD TURNS, his first daytime role. “Some of the most transformative moments of my life have been sitting in the gods of a NYC theater watching my deepest secrets reflected in the liberating, awful, merciless, joyful, ridiculous mirror of the stage,” he shared. “When you are given a profound gift like this, I can only quote Tennessee’s Big Daddy Pollitt, ‘The sky looks different to me.’”
LeBlanc also made sure to thank producer Matt deRogatis for casting him in this Ruth Stage production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. The three-time Daytime Emmy Award winner will be playing Brick’s willful and domineering father, Big Daddy, who was played by Burl Ives in the 1958 film adaptation.
Ruth Stage has already had to reschedule their production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof four times already but it is currently scheduled to hit the stage in January and February 2022 for 35 shows.
