Fans of THE BOLD & THE BEAUTIFUL like to joke about how the small cast of the CBS sudser means that everyone has basically dated everyone! And even the actors themselves see the humor in it. “On set, we joke that it’s only a matter of time before Liam and Brooke hook up,” Scott Clifton admitted to Soap Opera Digest. “But the truth is, I hope that doesn’t happen because they really do have a true friendship.
“I think Liam and Brooke’s relationship is rare on a soap opera,” he added. “She’s his mother-in-law but I think that Liam and Brooke are actually, genuinely friends. There’s a purely platonic bond there and they’re both constantly hated by everybody around them. They try to do the right thing all the time and don’t. I think they see each other as a support system, and I hope it stays that way for a long time.”
Given that Liam has found himself on the outs in the past for swapping between women like Steffy and Hope and others seemingly on a whim, it’s only natural that he would bond with Brooke, who has done the same thing with the men in her life. Since they have this in common, it makes sense that Liam would understand how Brooke feels, having been dumped by Ridge for kissing Deacon on New Year’s Eve.
“Liam has a lot of sympathy for Brooke,” Clifton explained. “I think Liam wants to give Brooke a pass because Liam wishes that someone in his life would give him a pass on all the ways he keeps messing up over and over again. So, Liam is sympathetic.”
Of course, the Forresters and Spencers have more important things to deal with right now with Steffy clinging to life and Sheila still walking around free, but it’s good to know that Brooke can rely on Liam for support during the rough patches. Just so long as they keep it in the Friend Zone!
